DO I NEED A REFERRAL?
Yes. Our Allergists are a medical specialists and per Alberta Health regulations they see patients by referral only. We also, have a short wait time and we can generally book you in to see the Allergist within a couple of days of receiving your referral.
You can ask your primary care physician to send a referral to:
The Allergy Clinic
Fax: 780-423-4693
If you have an emergency, please call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest hospital.
WHAT IS THE WAIT TIME TO SEE THE ALLERGIST?
We have a short waitlist and we generally can see you within a few days of receiving your referral.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The visit is covered by Alberta Health but Alberta Health does not pay for allergy testing materials, patients are required to pay for materials and extracts that are used for their tests. All allergy clinics in Alberta require patients to pay tray fees for the tests. Ours vary between $60-$100 dollars depending on the nature of the test.
WHAT WILL THE PRICKÂ TESTING BE LIKE?
Since patients have different pain tolerance, it is difficult to provide a blanket response to how painful it will be. However, to most patients, the pain level of the test is akin to a scratch. Nonetheless, we will endeavour to ensure all patients are as comfortable as possible and that our staff exercises patience.
DO YOU HAVE FREE PARKING?
Free on-street parking is available at the front of the clinic. Also, there is a dedicated parking lot for patients located at the back of the clinic, adjacent to the Highlands Edmonton Public Library.
